The longer bit:
Probably like you, we started off with the el-cheapo pack of ebay resistors that have like 30 or more values for like $10 total but and waited 5 weeks for them to arrive from China. And we got what we paid for. Flimsy leads, low quality resistors with the taped ends. Not so great when you decide you're going to build 50 Klones to sell on The Gear Page or Reverb. And buyers there who pay good money expect that you are selling a product with quality components, not the ebay junk.
Like you may have, we switched to the Xicon 271 resistors with the thicker leads. These are really good, so we stocked them for our kits. But one day our supplier didn't have Xicon in stock for a couple values we needed, and we tried these by KOA-Speer. When we got them, it was "almost" like trying Xicon all over again, except this time, the Xicon ones were the ones with the thinner leads. These cost about the same, and we liked these so much that we decided that as we ran out of Xicon, we would replenish our supply with these. Don't get me wrong, the Xicon ones are great resistors; we just think these are slightly superior.
So, as we're ramping up our store inventory, we decided to offer bags of 100 of these quality resistors to our customers. Sorry, no smaller denominations are available.
